Manaslu Circuit Trek is regarded as the best all-around trek in Nepal and it’s on the Great Himalayan Trail. Its other name is green tea- house trek. During the trip to Manaslu, we get to marvel at the magnificent views of snowy Mt. Manaslu (8163m). The eighth tallest peak in the world, located squarely in the heart of the Nepalese Himalaya ranges. The low-to-high range of altitudes presents you with the varied flora and fauna of this region. The total distance of the Round Manaslu trek is 177 km.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek is a popular trek in Nepal that takes you around the Manaslu mountain. The trek starts in the town of Arughat, which is about a 7-hour drive from Kathmandu. And follows a route through the Manaslu Conservation Area, passing through forests, meadows, and high mountain passes. The highlight of the trek is the visit to the Larkya La pass, which is located at an altitude of 5106 meters and offers stunning views of the Manaslu mountain and the surrounding Himalayas.

The walk takes around two weeks. However, many tourists opt to extend their stay for further exploration and acclimatization. The prime seasons for the Manaslu Circuit Trek are from September to November and from March to May, characterized by clear and dry weather. Nonetheless, trekking at other times is feasible; however, weather unpredictability and snow-covered trails may pose challenges.

Challenging trek

The Manaslu Circuit Trek offers beauty, culture, and adventure in a challenging yet rewarding journey. Along the way, trekkers can enjoy the local culture and hospitality of the Gurung people, who are the indigenous residents of the region. The trek showcases diverse flora and fauna, including rhododendron forests and rare bird and animal species.

Why Manaslu Circuit Trek In Nepal?

Adventure, cultural immersion, and breathtaking scenery may all be found on Nepal’s Manaslu Circuit Trek. Trekking here offers an unforgettable experience because of the breathtaking views of Mt. Manaslu, the varied flora and wildlife, and the opportunities to interact with Gurung villages. Trekking via isolated Himalayan regions and difficult mountain crossings is made possible by the route’s lower blocked nature as compared to other well-known treks. In the heart of the Himalayas’ beautiful environment, this journey appeals to those looking for a combination of cultural experience and physical challenges. Manaslu Circuit Trek is regarding as one of the favorite destination in Nepal among foreigners.

Major attractions of Manaslu Circuit Trek

  • Beautiful views of the eighth-highest peak in the world, Mt. Manaslu.
  • Interactions with the vibrant cultures of the Gurung people along the way.
  • Meet a variety of animals and plants that are exclusive to the Himalayan area.
  • Hike along hard mountain routes such as Larkya La Pass.
  • Experience the peace and quiet of mountain lakes like Birendra Tal.
  • Discover hidden Himalayan communities such as Samagaon and Samdo.

Tips for Round Manaslu Trek

Additionally, the trekker needs to note that trekking at altitudes above 3000m/10,000ft is more demanding on the body than walking at lower elevations. One needs to have good cardiovascular fitness to go on this trek. We will start our trek with the drive to Arughat from Kathmandu and follow the Budhi Gandaki River northwards to reach the village of Deng.

The trail now takes you high above the river giving us views of the Manaslu Massif. However, much of this trek involves walking on mountain trails. The Annapurna’s Thorung La (Pass) is not the same degree of challenge as Manaslu’s Larkya La. It is in the almost permanent shadow of Manaslu’s north face and that results in more severe snow conditions. There are a few places where unbelievably beautiful and awesome scenery can be sightseeing.

Additionally, the best time for Manaslu Circuit Trek are March to May in spring season and September to mid-December during the autumn season. It is not suggested to go trek in monsoon season.

      Manaslu circuit trek

We were three Norwegians coming to Nepal to hike the Manaslu Circuit Trek. Some of us had done several previous treks and some of us was there for the first time. Since we had been there before, we knew what to expect and what we needed help to do. Having Bharat as our guide was perfect for us. His expertise in choosing good lodges and guest houses – or just a place to stop for tea, made this trip so much easier. We also got the benefit from his knowledge about places and history which made a great mix with the fantastic views we got to see along the trek.
If I ever get to go back, I for sure will use Bharat once again.
