Meeting fellow trekkers makes the whole experience exciting as you prepare together to journey ahead. Rest well as adventures kick off the following day in readiness for an early wake-up call.
Day two of the Langtang with Gosaikunda Pass Trek comprises lovely transportation from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. The journey takes about 7-8 hours and brings you closer and closer through winding roads offering breathtaking scenery of Nepal’s hilly region, terraced farmlands, and far-away snow-capped peaks.
Some small towns like Dhunche, which offer a prelude to Himalayan culture and environment, lie in the way as you gain height. The Ganesh Himal range peeks out occasionally along the horizon, temporarily hinting at the beautiful views to come.
Once arriving in Syabrubesi, it will welcome you with its peaceful serenity. It remains concealed amid hills and forests to provide an acclimatization and preparation site before the trek proper.
Your trek officially commences right here at Syabrubesi and goes on to an adventurous trail up to Lama Hotel. Gradually, it goes up through thick forests of oaks, rhododendrons, and bamboo, which are home to diverse wildlife, especially red pandas and langurs. The trail goes along the Langtang Khola (river) as the refreshing view of the cascades accompanies you along the way.
You will come across suspension bridges and small villages like Doman and Bamboo during your trek. Each of these villages has something to offer about how the local people live their traditional lives; most of them also receive you warmly with broad smiles.
It is a very satisfying end to the day to reach Lama Hotel, a quiet little stop in the midst of the forest. Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.
The walk from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village was at once rewarding and challenging as you climbed higher in the valley. The trail goes through the forest and ends in an alpine route.
As you ascend, the valley opens up and exposes different views of towering snow peaks, such as the Langtang Lirung (7,227m). The scenery changes from rocky hills to vast open meadows – what a photographer’s dream! You’ll cross very tiny settlements like Ghodatabela, where most trekkers take a break to sip tea while enjoying the massive mountain surroundings.
Langtang Village stands today as a strong-born survivor of the 2015 earthquake. Rebuilt and vivacious, decorated by traditional stone houses and by hospitality, Tamang people return to the village as an excellent site to delve into local culture, mouth-watering freshly cooked meals, and top views of the magnificent Himalayas.
On the fifth day of the Langtang with Gosaikunda Pass Trek, you will hike from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa. Leaving the village, the path goes through yak pastures, crossing wooden bridges built on glacial streams. The surrounding peaks increase in prominence, with Langtang Lirung being one of such peaks. You will pass through ancient mani walls, prayer wheels, and khots of small size, testifying to the deep-rooted Buddhist heritage. As you come closer to Kyanjin Gompa, it turns cooler and rawer; it’s small because, in reality, it is named after its monastery – a historical monastery renowned by the local population and visitors as a great place to be.
Kyanjin Gompa gives a chance to visit and explore its famous cheese factory where a normal yak cheese is manufactured. Spend the night in lovely peace, preparing for the upcoming acclimatization day.
Day 6 is solely set for acclimatization at Kyanjin Gompa. It will have short day hikes to nearby viewpoints, all offering magnificent views of the Langtang range. The walk is to Kyanjin Ri (4,773m) or Tserko Ri (4,984m), where one gets to admire all the nearby peaks and glaciers.
The hike to these viewpoints may be strenuous and may involve some climbing, but the reward is worth every effort. It would really amaze you to see Langtang Lirung, Langshisha Ri, and Dorje Lakpa in a single view.
You can spend the whole day exploring the village and then come back to it and spend some time lying down deep in the quietness. Go ahead and visit the monastery or sink in yak cheese and local dishes within your lodge while soaking up the calmness of the Himalayas.
This journey ends at Kyanjin Gompa before descending back to Lama Hotel. The trail features beautiful resting places and some lost moments during your ascent and can be relieved along the descent.
While allowing much leisure in going down, the descent puts you into all the finer details around you. You will once again pass through the landscapes surrounded by yaks, usually grazing in pastures interspersed with small chortens and fluttering prayer flags.
As you reach Lama Hotel, you can spend the night with a warm dinner.
Today is the next phase of the journey, starting it towards Thulo Syabru. The trail today descends away from Lama Hotel and then divides towards Thulo Syabru, a beautiful Tamang village placed along a ridge. The trek leads with a mixture of descent and ascent on dense forest paths, where visitors can catch a glimpse of wildlife, such as langurs and other bird species.
The sights of Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal will bear you as you approach Thulo Syabru. The village itself is beautiful, a collection of typical dwelling houses bedecked with prayer flags, which gives a glimpse of the Tamang culture. The hospitable behavior of the local people and opportunities to meet them will add color to your experience.
Overnight at a local tea house at Thulo Syabru.
Today, you willl leave Thulo Syabru and hike towards Sing Gompa. The trail leads one through fascinating forests of pine and later rhododendrons, higher and higher.
Sing Gompa is known not just for age age-old monastery but also for the yak cheese factory, where you can really taste some of the best cheese in the region. The village has wonderfully commanding views of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, and the Tibetan peaks. Still, it can also be a beautiful site for star gazing as the clear mountain skies reveal an amazing array of stars.
The quiet ambiance of Sing Gompa makes it another preferred stop for trekkers. Overnight stay at a local tea house.
Trekking to Gosaikunda is one of the most awaited days of the Langtang with Gosaikunda Pass Trek. The path climbs constantly and leads through rugged terrain and past several smaller lakes to reach this sacred site of Gosaikunda Lake. The ascent takes you through meadows of rock and snow-capped peaks like Himal Chuli and Manaslu.
Gosaikunda Lake was believed to have been created by Lord Shiva, who struck his trident into the ground to pacify thirst. The turquoise waters, with their reflection of the peaks surrounding them, create a somewhat surreal and spiritual ambiance.
From the holy Gosaikunda Lake, you can now scale the challenging Lauribina Pass (4,610m). This is the highest elevation achieved in the trek, adding zest to that moment of the journey. The ascent is typically steep, and one needs to proceed carefully while taking in the breathtaking panorama of the Himalayas, including Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, and Langtang Lirung.
After the pass, the descent leads to a rugged terrain of barren landscapes and alpine meadows. This section of the trek is the most remote jungle of all, sending hints of solitude and adventure.
There is a small village of Ghopte set between thick green forests, the overnight halting point for this day. The lodges in this area are quite basic. Still, what they lack in luxury it compensates for the warmth of the hosts and an absolutely peaceful environment, making up for a cozy retreat after a long, tiring, but rewarding trek.
The journey from Ghopte to Kutumsang takes you through green forests and rolling hills, with occasional views of the Himalayas. This walk has some uphills and downhills, showing small Nepali villages and terraced farmland while moving through those areas.
It is a trail without many trekkers, which gives you a chance to really absorb the silence of the trail. On the way, you will come across traditional prayer flags immersed with small chortens that remind you about the spiritual importance of the region.
Kutumsang is a very beautiful village inhabiting terraced fields and green hills. The Tamang and Sherpa communities living there are very hospitable, and their traditional lifestyle provides views into the diverse culture of Nepal. Overnight stay in Kutumsang enjoying a warm and light dinner.
On the thirteenth day of the Langtang with Gosaikunda Trek, the trek continues from Kutumsang and traverses hills and forests with small villages on the way to Chisapani. Trekking through these lush forests and ridges with small villages allows one to interact with locals and understand their form of living.
Chisapani offers you views of the Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, and even parts of the Annapurna range. Chisapani is known and best known for its spectacular sunrise and sunset views over the mountains, being a favorite spot for trekkers. You will spend your night at a local lodge here.
Today, the trek takes you from Chisapani to Sundarijal, a small town at the periphery of the Kathmandu Valley. This trek descends gradually through the Shivapuri National Park, a protected area with rich biodiversity levels. The walk is completed with vivid forests, occasional waterfalls, and a view of the wide Kathmandu Valley below.
As you descend, you will pass through the villages of Mulkharka, where terraced fields and traditional houses complete the picturesque setting. After arriving in Sundarijal, you drive in a vehicle to Kathmandu and rest for the remaining part of the day.
Day 15 of the Langtang and Gosaikunda Pass Trek is the last day of your stay in Nepal. You will be transported to Tribhuvan International Airport by one of our representatives, from where you will bid farewell to us and fly home.

We were a group of 7 people who booked the trip with Mountain trek Nepal for the Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek. Some of us had been to Nepal before and done to the Everest Base Camp Trek with this agency so we also decided to joined mountain treks Nepal.
Our guide Raj and his assistants Ramsh and rajesh attended to our every need and we would highly recommend them for treks in Nepal. Some of us had previously had Raj as our guide in the past EBC trekking and knew that he would do everything possible to make our trek amazing, safe, comfortable, and funny.
Raj provided us with information and so interesting things day by day, noting how many hours of walking would be required, how is the path, lunch places , the required amount of drinking water, and the Necessary clothing for the given day’s weather conditions and altitude, altitude sickness etc…
I would highly recommend Mountain treks Nepal, as well as Raj for anyone we are planning to trek in Nepal.

With two friends we went to Nepal to do an easy and relative short trekking tour but we didn’t have any idea on where to go. Thanks to our Hotel we met Bharat, one of the guide of Mountain Treks Nepal. He proposed the 10 days Langtang valley with gosaikunda trek, and I still thanks him for the beautiful experience.
He’s very prepared and he understand the limits of an occasional trekker. An if you’re curious like me, he can answer to almost anything related to history, religion and culture of Nepal.
If you’re looking for someone that can take care of the entire organization of a trek, This is the place.
