Trip Overview
Langtang Valley Trek is one magical trek into one of the most picturesque and culturally heavy areas of Nepal. This Langtang Valley, north of Kathmandu in the adjoining region of Tibet, is popularly referred to as the “Valley of Glaciers” due to magnificent panoramas of the snow-covered peaks, dazzling glaciers, and pure high-altitude landscapes. A trek like this is great for anyone hoping to see a blend of nature and culture since it winds between the old Tamang communities where warm hospitality is very much an experience; the culture remains installed in ancient Buddhist traditions.
Langtang Valley Trek 10 Days is easy-moderate for average trekkers and follows through various ecosystems-from lush bamboo and rhododendron to high-altitude pastures and rocky trails. Wildlife enthusiasts will love the adventure of spotting red pandas, Himalayan black bears, and a host of other bird species. This trek ends at the very high-altitude monastery of Kyanjin Gompa-nestled among towering peaks and glaciers; there are many hiking options to viewpoints such as Tsergo Ri and Kyanjin Ri.
Preparation for Langtang Valley Trek 10 Days
Permits and Regulations for Langtang Valley Trek
You will require two permits for going on the Langtang Valley Trek 10 Days.
The first one is Langtang National Park Entry Permit, which costs NPR 3000 for international Trekkers. If you are a trekker from SAARC Nations, the permit fee is NPR 1000 for you.
Similarly, the second permit is Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card which costs NPR 3000 per person. Both of these permits can be obtained from Nepal Tourism Board in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.
Travel Guides and Porters
Especially if you are inexperienced trekking in the region for the first time, hiring a guide and porter can be much better for your Langtang Valley Trek 10 Days experience. A guide is helpful to guide you along the trail, explain the richness of local culture, and deal with permits. A guide also undergoes training in emergencies, including altitude-related emergencies, and is at your side for the trek.
While you enjoy the journey, a porter helps lift the load from your back and carries your heaviest belongings most cases 20kg. We at Mountain Treks Nepal bring packages of certified guides and porters, among other services, yet ensure to select the service of proper and well-insured training.
Communication and Internet during Langtang Valley Trek 10 Days
The communication system in the Langtang Valley Trek is very limited. Still, there are places in the higher altitudes where communication may prove inconsistent. Villages like Syabrubesi, Langtang Village, and Kyanjin Gompa have mobile network connectivity from providers like Ncell and Nepal Telecom, among others, but the signal strength varies depending on the location, and the internet may not always be available. Many teahouses along the trails offer Wi-Fi for a small fee, but the connection is usually slow and depends on the weather conditions as you go up.
One good alternate form of communication is to carry a satellite phone in areas where there is no network coverage in case of emergencies. Also, inform someone about your itinerary before setting off on the trek. Most travellers would feel the whole experience is better away from constant connectivity as it immerses them further into the natural beauty and peace of the Himalayas.
Best Season for Langtang Valley Trek
The best time to do the Langtang Valley Trek is from September to November and from March to May, when the weather is generally clear and dry. It is possible to do the trek at other times of the year, but the weather can be more unpredictable, and some trails may be inaccessible due to snow. When one welcomes Nepal’s monsoon season, the already captivating landscapes become even more mystical.
Accommodation and Food
Trails along the Langtang Valley Trek offers accommodation primarily in teahouses kind of simple lodges that provide very basic rooms having twin beds and shared bathrooms. More or less in a gentle way, these facilities are very basic, warm and welcoming, with cozy common areas heated mostly by wood or yak-dung stoves. Moreover, as one ascends further, accommodation is more primitive, requiring good sleeping bags to stay comfortably warm.
Food that one can boast of while trekking is the awesome variety of hearty meals served at teahouses. Simply put, dal bhat (lentil soup, rice, and vegetables) are the base food and work well in summing up the energies for trekkers. There’s even an option of having noodles, pasta, and some other varieties like momos and Tibetan bread. Ginger tea and yak butter tea are well-known examples of hot beverages that help keep one warm. Again, as a precaution, food prices go up with altitude because of transport issues, so budget accordingly.
Travel Insurance
Travel Insurance is a high necessity in the list of requisites for any trekking adventure, especially in remote places such as Langtang Valley. It should include provision for high-altitude trekking (up to 5,000m and beyond) that may require life-saving evacuation through helicopter in the case of altitude sickness or injury.
In addition, ensure that your policy covers trip cancellations, medical expenses, and lost belonging since trekking to the Himalayas is usually shrouded in uncertainties from weather elements and logistical hurdles. And don’t forget your travel insurance policy and emergency contact numbers for the insurance provider. It makes it a lot easier to think of enjoying the journey while keeping in mind the mental peace achieved through this preparation.

Detailed Itinerary
As soon as you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, our welcoming airport representative will transfer you by private tourist vehicle to your hotel. The city of Kathmandu lives on both its past glory and decaying temples with narrow streets, as well as modern establishments pitted against nature’s phenomena in harmonious chaos.
There isn’t any better bustling initiation into the culture and heritage of Nepal than Kathmandu-the very capital itself. There’s an evening of leisure after we check into your hotel; explore or chill and prepare yourself for freeing, yet maybe visit the vibrant streets of Thamel, which hold shops selling trekking gear, souvenirs, and Nepalese handicrafts. Or take some time to recharge mentally for what lies ahead. This is where the journey into the land of the breathtaking Langtang Valley starts.
On the third day of the Langtang Valley Trek. You leave Syabrubesi and head upstream along the Langtang River. The track winds through terraced farmland with dense forest and little settlement of the Tamang community. You will hit the area in which this rich biodiversity thrives after crossing the suspension bridge.
The trail gets steeped as trekking heads up into thick bamboo groves and brilliant forests. Wildlife includes red pandas and Himalayan black bears, plus playful monkeys, so keep your eyes peeled. Meanwhile, the river runs through the area, providing a peaceful backdrop for physical efforts.
This little settlement is called the Lama Hotel, isolated by tall pines. The day’s trek paints the picture of scenic beauty and sylvan silence for the adventure ahead. You can relax and recharge here for the next day’s climb into Langtang Valley.
Today’s trek begins with an ascent through dense forests of oak, maple, and rhododendron. On the path, what you will smell this morning is the scent of the woods in crisp air. And as you climb upward, you will begin to see through the trees the peaks, snow-capped and only right to tease the dramatic splendor that awaits further up the trail.
After three hours, you will finally reach Ghora Tabela, a quiet clearing where most trekkers pause. Here lies Langtang Lirung (7234 m) on high, with its ice-clad summit asserting so dominant from the skyline. After that, the trek follows the Langtang Khola (river); the valley finally comes wide and unveils grazing yaks and stone-built Tamang homes.
It would be late afternoon before you reach Langtang Village, a remote cluster huddled at the centre of the valley. The village can provide a glimpse of the treasures buried in culture and suggest how the Tamangs would typically live their lives, known to provide hospitality and unique practices.
Ascending above the tree line after leaving Langtang village reveals an arid yet beautiful Himalayan landscape. The topography is speckled with juniper bushes and wiry grass and feels cooler in the air and crisper. Along the way are small settlements such as Sindum and Yamphu, whose people will warmly welcome you with smiles when they see trekkers pass by them.
The trail becomes more exciting when you cross the Laja Khola into a strong bridge, climbing high on a glacial moraine. Tough as this ascent is, it offers the most rewarding views of Kyanjin Gompa and the icefalls of Langtang Lirung.
Here, at Kyanjin Gompa, stands the monastery of the same name, ready to be explored. Yak cheese is produced in this village, where you can taste the fresh local cheese. Those with more energy can hike to Kyanjin Ri for the panorama sunset view after lunch.
Today is a day for acclimatization and exploration. You will wake up early in the morning and attempt the rigorous hike to Tserko Ri, one of the highest places in this region (5,000m). You will see the golden slants of sunlight cascading over the Langtang Himalayas. Panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Langshisa Ri, Gyanghempo, and Naya Kang will dazzle one’s eyes.
Also, you will explore around Kyanjin Gompa monastery and learn the religious significance as well as the local Buddhist practices. More wandering could be done towards the nearby glacier or just a simple walk along the Langtang River with a view of the beautiful surrounding peaks. Kyanjin Gompa will make one spend this great day quite differently. Good rest has to be taken as tomorrow the descent will begin.
The ascent to Langtang Valley Trek is now complete, and your descent is going to start today. With a retracing route, you will follow through the valley along the Langtang River. It’s still the same walk but much easier, with the brighter and darker light highlighting the forests and cliffs in different ways.
Plus, be alert for wildlife as you pass through oak and rhododendron forests—red pandas and monkeys are often sighted in the area. You are already familiar with Ghora Tabela and you will pass it again today, after which the last views of Langtang Lirung will be shown to you.
This would take you in the afternoon to the Lama Hotel, where is the usual cosy touch of the lodge. The trek is one of nostalgia blended with fresh, re-newing eyes seeing the wonders of nature in Langtang.
The return journey continues today as well. You will go down from the Lama Hotel and trek back into Syabrubesi. This trek will again be a nostalgic one for you as it takes you through lush forests and tall oaks to vibrant rhododendrons; it sounds so cave-like since the soothing sound of the Langtang River decides the importance of the whole trek.
It is indeed quite a descent, and it should be unhurried to allow one to enjoy the greater richness of nature. Let the colourful prayer flags and small stone stupas remind you of the spirituality of this place.
You will reach Syabrubesi late in the afternoon and stay in a comfortable lodge. Here, reflect on the unforgettable journey through Langtang Valley over hearty meals and the warm hospitality of the village.
Today, you will drive back to Kathmandu. Leaving behind majestic mountains is yet one last chance to view beautiful rural Nepal on amazing driving: winding roads, floating rivers, and terraced hillsides as one bids farewell.
The last leg of this journey will soon be back into the busy life of the city, as far off as one can imagine from the remarkable closeness of the Langtang region. This journey takes around seven hours and gives you a really good chance to visit the capital city in the evening.
Once in Kathmandu, rest at your hotel.
Your flight departs for home from Tribhuvan International Airport on the last day of your stay here. Before leaving Nepal, take some time to remember the spectacular sights and experiences that have been part of the wonderful Langtang Valley Trek 10 Days.

With two friends we went to Nepal to do an easy and relative short trekking tour but we didn’t have any idea on where to go. Thanks to our Hotel we met Bharat, one of the guide of Mountain Treks Nepal. He proposed the 10 days Langtang trek, and I still thanks him for the beautiful experience.
He’s very prepared and he understand the limits of an occasional trekker. An if you’re curious like me, he can answer to almost anything related to history, religion and culture of Nepal.
If you’re looking for someone that can take care of the entire organisation of a trek, This is the place.

We were a group of 7 people who booked the trip with Mountain trek Nepal for the Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek. Some of us had been to Nepal before and done to the Everest Base Camp Trek with this agency so we also decided to joined mountain treks Nepal.
Our guide Raj and his assistants Ramsh and rajesh attended to our every need and we would highly recommend them for treks in Nepal. Some of us had previously had Raj as our guide in the past EBC trekking and knew that he would do everything possible to make our trek amazing, safe, comfortable, and funny.
Raj provided us with information and so interesting things day by day, noting how many hours of walking would be required, how is the path, lunch places , the required amount of drinking water, and the Necessary clothing for the given day’s weather conditions and altitude, altitude sickness etc…
I would highly recommend Mountain treks Nepal, as well as Raj for anyone we are planning to trek in Nepal.

My mother and I had a great time with Yaka on this Chisapani Nagarkot trek. Yaka was exceptionally kind, well disposed, and supportive on our trip and furthermore ensured we were constantly dealt with. Shockingly we were not ready to see the Langtang Mountain, because of the shadiness early in the day, however we saw other wonderful mountain destinations. I would have enjoyed this to really be a multi day trek, as we were told, however it was all the more a multi day trek with the most recent day being spent for the most part in a van, which took us to Bhaktapur.
