Trip Overview
Annapurna Panorama Trek is a short but excellent trek that is well-suited for those who want to be part of the high mountains without going too high. Certainly, it offers one of the most splendid views of this area, a chance to see and feel the cultural aspect of the trek. Also, it gives an opportunity to enjoy diversity in scenery, taking you through beautiful evergreen Gurung villages, covering dense forests, and finally reaching terraced farmland. Pokhara, its starting town, takes the traveler gradually to the large open heaven of Annapurna, with its surrounding peaks of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli. The Annapurna Panorama Trek 8 Days is relatively moderate, suiting walkers of all fitness levels, families, and even complete beginners for an experience in the Himalayas.
The views during this Annapurna Panorama Trek will present you with traditional villages like Ghandruk, Landruk, and Australian Camp. Such places provide a glimpse and exposure to the unique Gurung culture, some ways to local museums, and the warmth of the mountain communities in addition to the trekking ones. The trail takes you through some rhododendron forests, passing cascading waterfalls and some river crossings as part of the amazing scenery. The sunrise and sunset from viewpoints such as Australian Camp and Ghandruk will also make an exciting and unforgettable impression.
Preparation for Annapurna Panorama Trek 8 Days
Required Permits for Annapurna Panorama Trek
If you are looking forward to taking on the Annapurna Panorama Trek, there are two permits required. They are Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Permit and Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card.
To get Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) Permit, you must submit the fee of NPR 3000 per person if you are traveling from foreign nation. For SAARC Nation trekkers, it costs only NPR 1000 per person.
Similarly, Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card costs you NPR 3000 per person.
Guides and Porters
Experienced trekking guides and porters add to the trekking experience, not only providing practical but cultural benefits when undertaking the Annapurna Panorama Trek.
Most licensed guides are knowledgeable with great first-hand experience along the trails, flora and fauna of the region, and local culture with all fascinating insights along the way. They keep you safe by monitoring the weather, helping you navigate on the correct trails, and giving advice on altitude issues. With the help of your guides, the logistics of the trek are also well managed as they take care of booking your accommodations and getting permits.
Porters play an equally vital role in carrying your heavy backpacks so that you can trek with only a day pack. It reduces the physical strain significantly and allows you to take in much of the scenery without concern for comfort. Porters are generally local people who know the trails very well and add quite a lot to the trekking experience.
Hiring guides and porters makes the trekking journey much smoother and brings a direct contribution to improving the livelihoods within the mountain communities for its members.
Accommodation Options during Annapurna Panorama Trek
Annapurna Panorama Trek offers diverse lodging arrangements. Most of them are in the form of local lodges or “tea houses”, which are most suitable for trekkers in the Annapurna region. Normally, these lodges are basic but comfortable, providing twin-sharing rooms, simple beds, blankets, and pillows; rooms are small and modest with breathtaking views from most of the teahouses, where mountains like Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and Hiunchuli can be seen. Some of them are Ghandruk and Landruk, where a few lodges offer better facilities, such as hot showers in bathrooms, at extra costs during the winter season.
These amenities improve progressively along the trail at larger villages such as Ghandruk and Pokhara, where better guesthouses are found with Wi-Fi, their charging point, and a nice dining experience. At Australian Camp and Landruk, accommodation becomes sparser as you venture higher into the mountains. Therefore, carry essential items like a sleeping bag and a power bank with you.
Food Options
Food during Annapurna Panorama Trek 8 Days is a wonderful combination of local Nepali cuisine and simple international dishes which can be best recommended for trekkers. The most common meal is “Dal Bhat,” consisting of steamed rice, lentil soup, seasonal vegetables, and pickles. This is not just food; it provides all the necessary energy for trekking long hours. Most tea houses along the trail generally offer breakfast options like Tibetan bread, pancakes, porridge, eggs, or tea or coffee in different combinations. For lunch and dinner, there are noodles, fried rice, soups, and some momos (dumplings).
Fresh preparation and locally procured ingredients make it such that meals in teahouses are healthy and hearty. However, the menu becomes limited as you travel towards smaller villages. You can enjoy black tea, herbal tea, hot lemon, or instant coffee for consumption. You should not drink untreated water from streams; boil it for purifying, refill it with purified water, or take along water purifiers.
Travel Insurance
Basic travel insurance is highly recommended to travel to Annapurna Panorama Trek 8 Days for your peace of mind in case things don’t go as planned. The Annapurna Panorama Trek is basically wandering in the wilderness and climbing uphill above 1,800 meters; therefore, this insurance should cover medical emergency, evacuation, and any accidents related to trekking. Your coverage should include high-altitude helicopter rescue in case of accidents or medical problems. It also has to cover trip cancellations and delays, plus loss or theft of personal possessions, not strange events in trekking expeditions.
Carefully review the policy’s terms and conditions to confirm they apply to trekking in the Himalayas. The policy ensures usability under such conditions. Very few incidents occur, but a comprehensive insurance cover would have you prepared because when it comes to emergencies, there is no need for you to think about your holiday but enjoy it. In addition, always have a copy of your policy with you, either in a digital or physical form, since it is necessary during a medical emergency or evacuation.
Communication and Internet during Annapurna Panorama Trek 8 Days
Communication and internet services are available during the Annapurna Panorama Trek 8 Days, though their availability might be limited. They are not as scarce as those on the Annapurna Base Camp or Annapurna Circuit Trek. But since you will be traveling through the remote parts of Mid Western Nepal, these services are scarce in number.
We recommend you carry local SIM Cards such as NCELL and NTC, which offer the best voice and data packs for internet usage at a reasonable cost. Besides, you can carry satellite phones for emergency communication and more. We also suggest you to carry offline services like maps and guidebooks to make your trek seamless and overviewed.

Detailed Itinerary
Upon your arrival to Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will warmly receive you and take you to your hotel in Kathmandu. You can stroll through the energized city itself filled with temples, ancient architectures, and vigorously lively local markets. The rest of the evening is free for you to relax or explore the city at your own pace.
Kathmandu is a rich source of cultural and historical importance, making it an interesting point of beginning for your adventure. You can visit major landmarks like the Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, or the UNESCO-listed Kathmandu Durbar Square. As night falls, the city literally builds up a magical atmosphere. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
On the second day of the Annapurna Panorama Trek 8 Days, you will leave Kathmandu early in the morning and take a short flight or drive to Pokhara, the City of Lakes. The drive will take you through the hills and rivers of the countryside. From Pokhara, you will catch a vehicle that will take you to Nayapul, which is a starting point for all treks into the Annapurna region.
Upon reaching Nayapul, your trek begins with an easy trek of 3 hours towards Tikhedhunga. The trail leads you through charming small villages, terraced farmlands, and rhododendron forests.
The last stretch is a gentle climb beside the Burundi Khola (river), where waterfalls cascade down the cliffs to enhance the beauty of the landscape. You’ll pass some small tea houses around the settlements, which depict a reminder of the hard-working people of the mountains. This will be your happy home for the night in Tikhedhunga in a cosy lodge.
Today, you will undertake a drive after breakfast across the beautiful terrain to Kande, a small village with terraced fields and hills. From here, the two-and-a-half hours trek begins upward to the Australian Camp. It is popular as one of the viewpoints with the most awe-striking panoramic view. The trail takes you through a thick rhododendron forest, which allows you to see some parts of Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and some other parts of the Himalayan ranges.
Then comes Australian Camp, and when you reach that point, the fantastic view of the Annapurna massif, Lamjung Himal, and the extremely stunning Pokhara Valley can be seen. The specific feature of this place is the brilliant sunrise and sunset when the mountains get coated with gold in changing light. This peaceful camp indeed provides an opportunity for relaxation, photography and immersing oneself in the natural beauty of this spot. After enjoying one’s dinner at a local lodge, one will rest overnight.
From Australian Camp, the trail leads you to a ridge line with breathtaking views of the Annapurna range and luscious valleys. The hike is not quite challenging today, but it takes you through the landscapes of dense forests, terraced farms, and stone pathways. You’ll encounter some of the tiny villages where locals greet you. The beauty of the ever-flowing Modi Khola river and farm area views stretching beyond the hills is unveiled by this trek as the very initial part of the trek rolls onwards.
Situated amidst the core of the Annapurna region, Landruk is one of the key Gurung settlements. Famous for its vibrant culture, this village is decorated with stone houses, vibrant prayer flags, and stepped farmland. You will spend your afternoon walking through this village and taking a nap in a cozy lodge. Take the views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. Night drive to Landruk.
The fifth day of the Annapurna Panorama Trek begins with a descent through terraced fields and forests toward the Modi River after a hearty breakfast. The sound of the flowing river accompanies you as you cross the suspension bridge, which passes above the rushing water below. This does not stop you from continuing on the ascending trail along waterfalls and the forest, full of songs among the birds. This uphill trail may be physically challenging but worth it, as the scenes become ever more dramatic with every step. The final point of Ghandruk will have you face-to-face with Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, and Hiunchuli.
Ghandruk is the second-largest Gurung village in the region and is a cultural hub. The slate-roofed houses, the traditional architecture, and the remaining stone-paved lanes made a beautiful scene. You can visit the Gurung Museum, which displays their local customs, traditional dresses, and tools used by the locals. Ghandruk will provide some of the best panoramic views of the Annapurna range, making it an ideal place for photographers and nature lovers. Overnight stay at a local tea house in Ghandruk.
This is the last trekking day in the Annapurna Region. Today, the trail takes you more or less toward Birethanti, Ghandruk, again walking alongside the flowing Modi Khola River. The path is pleasant and easy, wandering in and out of forests and fields. Along the trail, you can experience the varieties of birds hammering their calls, including kingfishers, forktails, and others, which flourish along the riverbanks.
After reaching Nayapul, you will take a short rest and then prepare for a drive. This drive from Nayapul leads you into a reunion with your private vehicle for a trip back to Pokhara. Upon driving from this point, the black-topped route takes you for at least 1.5 hours, assuring views over Pokhara Valley and Phewa Lake approaching the city.
You can relax in your lakeside hotel in Pokhara and explore the buzzing city. You can stroll along the peace of the lake at Phewa, visit local markets swarming with life, or enjoy a boat ride with a view of the vast sky-high mountains reflected in the waters. After all the trekking, Pokhara offers beautiful, serene tranquillity as a reward.
After having breakfast in Pokhara, it is time to return to Kathmandu, the capital city. You will be set on an enchanting six-hour drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu via a narrative Prithivi Highway. The road from Pokhara goes along the Marsyangdi and Trishuli Rivers. The stunning river gorges, terraced fields, and tiny villages nestling at the hillsides are some of the major attractions of this drive.
En route, you can make your stops at places like Malekhu, where you snack on luscious local delicacies, click some decent shots and stretch your legs. A few hours of drive will lead you finally to Kathmandu. After arriving in Kathmandu, you will be escorted to your respective hotel, where you can rest for the remaining period.
Besides, you can also visit the bustling city of Thamel and also visit local pubs and bars. Overnight stay at a hotel in Kathmandu.
On your final day in Nepal, our airport representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure flight.
