Manaslu Region
Down from the world’s eighth-highest mountain, the Manaslu Region is a store of exquisite natural and cultural beauty. Indeed, majestic Manaslu towers above a landscape of deep gorges, roaring rivers, and lush forests, sprinkled in some parts with rhododendrons in brilliant colors. What brings trekkers to this venue is its wild, untamed beauty, where the Manaslu Circuit unfolds some of the most dramatic mountain vistas and high-altitude challenges, including crossing the breathtaking Larkya La Pass. The isolated and rugged region assures a true Himalayan adventure, far removed from the noise and bustle of much-trafficked trails.
In cultural terms, the Manaslu Region is a beautiful confluence of Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist traditions manifested in the villages, monasteries, and Mani walls, which are all manifestations of these cultural beliefs along the trails. To further enhance the trekking experience, the locals, both Gurung and those of Tibetan descent, are quite hospitable to visitors. As a result, the relative seclusion of this region coupled with its mesmerizing scenery and cultural richness really draws a number of trekkers who seek the tranquility of a challenging trek.
